What is Artifex Creative?

A variety of workshops in both painting and craft projects, we lead you through the project step by step, breaking each element down to make it easy to follow to help you create your own masterpiece. The amazing thing about creativity is everyone’s imagination is different and we love seeing all the individual versions of your projects at the end.

I’m interested in a Painting Workshop, is this an art class?

Painting workshops are a fun class’s you can enjoy with friends, family, colleagues, and friends you haven’t met yet to create your own masterpiece.  Most venues offer drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic so you can relax and unwind accompanied by a few glasses of your favourite tipple.  Projects are created with beginners in mind so a great way to learn a few tricks and have fun at the same time.

Where do workshops take place?

Workshops take place in a variety of pubs, restaurants and social venues as well as at our working artists studio, The Artifex Studio in Cranleigh, Surrey.  The majority of our venues are fully licenced, so you will be able to enjoy a tipple during your workshop.  For more info on each venue please see our ‘Venues’ page.

What do we paint/make on the day?

Each event listing has a photo and information on the painting or project we will be completing during the class so have a scroll through the events and choose what you fancy doing

How long are the workshops?

Evening workshops are approximately 2 – 2.5 hours long, weekend workshops are likely to be longer to allow more time for projects that may take longer than 2 hours to complete.  Please note the running times of each workshops are based on an average level of participant ability.   Due to the nature of different projects, and mixed ability levels of all participants may mean workshops are slightly longer or slightly shorter than the advertised workshop length.

I can’t paint or have never crafted before, can I attend?

Absolutely!!  Our workshops are about getting stuck in and having a go but ultimately having fun.  You will be lead through the project step by step and will be surprised once you get going what you can achieve and be proud to show off at the end of the class.

Are supplies and equipment included?

Everything you will need to complete the workshop will be ready and waiting, all you need to bring is yourself and get ready to get your creative juices flowing.

What tools will we use?

All materials are provided.  For Craft Projects the relevent tools to the project will be avialable which may include the use of scissors which can be sharp and glue guns.  The glue used in a glue gun can get very hot.  Please note all participants will need to take extra care when using the equipment provided to avoid accident or injury.  Should you feel a participant in your group may need supervision please ensure you have booked someone onto the the workshop to help and oversee this, as it will not be possible for the workshop leader to work one to one or supervise individual participants.

Can I purchase drinks?

Yes, each venue offers a drinks selection, please check out the venue information for your chosen workshop the venues offering.  

Will I need to bring ID to purchase alcohol?

Venues may ask for ID.

Workshops are a fun activity with a drink to enjoy during your workshop and we ask you to please drink responsibly. Excessive drinking is not encouraged, workshop leaders, bar staff and/or venue managers reserve the right to refuse sales and/or request the attendee to leave the session should an attendee is become disruptive to the group, refunds will not be issued.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

We do not allow food and drinks at our events with the exception of water bottles.  All of our venues offer drinks, most offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options so no need to bring your own, we’ve got your covered.  Please check the venue details for food offerings available either before and after your workshop.

My question hasn’t been answered?

If we haven’t been able to answer your question here please drop us a line at layona@artifexdesigns.co.uk and we will do our best to answer your question.  Please note Artifex Creative is a part of Artifex Designs, we may be teaching, painting murals or building events and attractions onsite and not able to answer immediately, we thank you for your patience and will get back to you as soon as possible.

How do I make a booking?

Head over to our Book a Workshop page, choose your preferred project and location and book your tickets.  Your tickets will be emailed to you.

The workshop I want to book won’t allow me to book an adult ticket?

Each workshop has a maximum capacity available which may vary according to the location.  Once all the tickets for that session have been purchased the workshop is sold out and we ask you please select an alternative available date.

I have made a booking but can’t find my tickets?

Once you have booked you will receive two emails, one with your tickets and one containing your confirmation.  These are sent automatically however if you struggle to find them please check your payment has left your account successfully, please also check your junk file before contacting us just in case they have made it into the wrong inbox.

What is the minimum age?

Workshops are 15+ however please look out for family classes on our schedule.  If you would like a class suitable for a younger audience, we also offer private bookings.

Can I bring my children?

Due to the nature of the venue, time and/or project we do not allow children under the age of 15 to attend.  

What is your refunds policy?

Tickets purchased are non-refundable.

Tickets can be transferred to an available date up to 10 days before the event when given written notice.  Please see the full policy for additional details.

Should we have to cancel an event you will be offered tickets to another event, a voucher or a full refund.

In the event of circumstances beyond our control including but not limited to bad weather, refunds will only be available if the event is unable to run.  Should this be the case we will do our best to reschedule of which you will have the option to transfer your tickets.

 

What time should I arrive?

Please take note of the running times of your workshop.  The advertised running time is the time when the workshop will start and approx. finish time.  Please ensure you arrive 10 minutes before the start time to allow time to check in, get a drink and settle in.

Whilst we fully appreciate sometimes things happen, for the enjoyment of everyone in the group we always aim to start on time and will do our best to get late comers up to speed as quickly as we can.  Please note to minimise disruption to the rest of the group, latecomers arriving more than 20 minutes after the start time will not be admitted and refunds and/or transfers will not be granted.

What should I wear?

Aprons are provided however due to the nature of painting and craft workshops accidents do happen so we ask you to ensure you come dressed appropriately in clothes you do not mind getting dirty.

Additional Ticketing Terms:

All workshops have a minimum number of attendees to allow the workshop to run, should your chosen workshop not meet the minimum numbers you will be contacted and offered to swap to another date.  Refunds will not be available.

Cancellations beyond our control.  With the exception of the Cranleigh venue all of our workshops take place in pubs and restaurants.  On the very rare occasion the venue may not be able to facilitate us through no fault of our own we will do our very best to find an alternative venue, if we are unable to do this you will be contacted and offered an alternative date.  

Can I purchase a gift voucher?

Yes, gift vouchers are the perfect gift for a creative loved one to allow them to choose the project they would like to complete.  Head to our shop, purchase your gift voucher and we will send you a voucher in the post to give as a gift.

Do you run private events?

Yes, perfect for groups of friends or family, hen parties, special occasions, and corporate events.  Please get in touch with Layona@artifexdesigns.co.uk to discuss the what’s, when’s, who’s and how’s.

Do you offer corporate events and/or team building?

Yes, the perfect event to get your team together for something a little different and get those creative juices going.  Workshops are available to attend in one of our venues or we can set up in your place of work.  For art projects the project can be designed to allow team members to work together to create one image putting multiple canvas’s together, we can even help your team come up with their own images and really get those imaginations working.

Refunds & Ticket Transfers

Tickets purchased are non-refundable.

Tickets can be transferred to an available date up to 10 days before the event when given written notice.  Partial refunds or credit cannot be applied to unused or partially used tickets.  If your named guest is unable to attend, we are more happy for you to bring a different guest and just let us know of the change on arrival.

 Should a situation arise beyond our control, or the workshop not meet the minimum numbers to enable it to run, we reserve the right to cancel the event.  Should we have to cancel, ticket holders will be offered to attend an alternative date and/or venue that suits you.  If you cannot attend any events listed or would like to wait for an alternative project, you will be offered a voucher to use at a later date.  Artifex Creative reserves the right to make changes to the schedule including the venue and/or date should circumstances arise beyond our control.
